Wooden Nickels have long been used since the beginning of time, or at least very darn near that. They were most widely used back in "Them Thar Days" of yesteryear as a token for a free beer at the local saloon, or a discount at the barber shop or blacksmith shop. And many a wooden nickel was used to promote politicians of the era. Now-a-days, that hasn’t much changed. Although we get far more imaginative, the principle is still basically the same. For the most part, they are widely used to promote county fairs, discounts at local shops, free cup of coffee, and the list goes on. Many of the ones today get used simply to promote an organizations principle theme or thought, and become a highly collected item. But for the most part, they are imprinted for profit making ventures. They have a large surface to imprint on two sides and lend themselves for multi-purposes. This is one substrate we can, and do quite regularly, add a keychain to them for repetitive visibility. This benefit out weighs the added cost of the keychain by far. The only limit to the usage of Wooden Nickels is your imagination.
